Telehealth Psychiatry

Psychiatric evaluation, medication management and addiction care by secure video, with the same board-certified clinicians who see patients in our offices. Available to patients in 33 jurisdictions, with in-person care in 15 states when a visit calls for it.

Why telehealth

Why telehealth works so well for behavioral health

Psychiatry is built on conversation, history and follow-up rather than on physical examination. That is why it has become the specialty where video care most often matches office care, and why the practical advantages, access, consistency and privacy, translate directly into better treatment.

The same clinicians, the same standard

Your video visit is with the same board-certified physicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants who see patients in our offices, following the same evaluation and treatment protocols.

Care within 24 hours

Appointments within 24 hours for most new patients. No commute, no waiting room, and follow-ups that fit around work, school or caregiving instead of replacing half a day.

Continuity that holds

Behavioral health works when visits happen on schedule. Patients keep telehealth follow-ups more consistently, which is what lets a medication plan be adjusted at the right time instead of months late.

Privacy, from wherever you are

Many people talk more openly about mood, focus, sleep or substance use from their own space than in a clinic. You choose the room; we bring the visit.

In person when it is the better fit

Telehealth is one door into the same practice. With in-person offices in 15 states, your clinician can bring you in when an exam, a treatment such as TMS, or a medication rule calls for it.

Secure and HIPAA-compliant

Visits run on an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Nothing to install: you open a link in your browser or phone, and your visit is not recorded.

Conditions we treat by telehealth

Services available online

TMS therapy and ketamine treatment are delivered in person at our Fairfax office and coordinated through your telehealth clinician.

How a telehealth visit works

  1. 01

    Book and complete your intake

Request an appointment online or by phone. Your intake and insurance details are completed in the secure patient portal before the visit.

  2. 02

    Open your visit link

At your appointment time, open the link from any phone, tablet or computer with a camera. There is no app to download and no account to create.

  3. 03

    Meet your clinician

A first visit is a full evaluation: history, symptoms, prior treatment, goals. Follow-ups review how you are doing and what to adjust.

  4. 04

    Prescriptions and next steps

Prescriptions go electronically to your pharmacy. If a urine screen, lab work, TMS or an in-person visit is part of the plan, we arrange it.

Common questions about telehealth psychiatry

Is telehealth psychiatry as effective as an office visit?

For evaluation, medication management and follow-up care of conditions such as depression, anxiety and ADHD, research on telepsychiatry has found outcomes comparable to in-person care. What matters is the quality of the evaluation and the consistency of follow-up, and video visits make the follow-up easier to keep.

Where can I receive telehealth care?

Our clinicians are licensed to provide telehealth in 33 jurisdictions. You need to be physically located in one of those jurisdictions at the time of the visit. See the Locations page for the current list.

Can controlled medications like ADHD stimulants be prescribed by telehealth?

Often, yes. Federal and state rules for controlled medications vary and can require an in-person visit in some situations. Your clinician will tell you what applies to you before treatment starts; with offices in 15 states, an in-person visit can usually be arranged when it is required.

What do I need for a video visit?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private space. You open a link in your browser; no download is needed.

How does a virtual urine drug screen work?

Some treatment plans include periodic urine drug screens. We ship a home kit, and you complete the screen on a supervised video call. Details are on the Urine Screen Information page.

Is my visit private and recorded?

Visits use an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant platform and are not recorded. Your clinical notes are kept in your medical record, the same as an office visit.

Does insurance cover telehealth visits?

Most major plans cover telehealth psychiatric care, and we verify your benefits before the first visit. Self-pay rates are available if you are uninsured or out of network.
