Meetings work best alongside treatment.
Peer support is not a substitute for medical care. Resova Health treats addiction with evidence-based medication, psychiatric care and coordination with your therapist, by telehealth or in person, and we are glad when patients add a meeting to that plan.
Common questions about recovery meetings
Are these meetings run by Resova Health?
No. Every group listed here is an independent organization. We list them because patients ask for them, and we keep the list current, but we do not run the meetings or vouch for any individual meeting.
Do I have to attend meetings to be treated at Resova Health?
No. Peer support is optional. Many patients find that meetings work well alongside treatment such as medication-assisted treatment, psychiatric care and therapy, and your clinician can help you decide whether it fits your plan.
Which program should I choose?
There is no single right answer. 12-step programs are the most widely available; SMART Recovery, LifeRing and Recovery Dharma suit people who want a secular or mindfulness-based approach; Al-Anon, Families Anonymous and PAL are for the people around someone with an addiction. Trying two or three different meetings is normal.
Are online meetings free?
Almost all of them are free. Face It Together charges for peer coaching and is marked as fee-based above. Check each organization’s site for details.
